My traineeship at managerberater
Author: Matthias Berg
Actually, I just wanted to get out of university – after Corona – and take the opportunity for a ‘real internship’ to gain a deeper insight into professional life. The reality was: from the very first day, responsible tasks, involvement in relevant decisions, constant communication at eye level, etc.; in short, the much-vaunted ‘jumping in at the deep end’, which, however, was a lot of fun, more than I could have imagined until then. I started with a classic project, handling an international trainee assessment centre. In the end, together with a consultant, I was responsible for designing a new potential assessment centre for a well-known German media company. Between these two projects, I took on other, different tasks and activities. As a result, my involvement and development opportunities increased continuously.
One highlight was a personnel development seminar, in which I was initially involved in the conceptualisation and was then able to follow the implementation live on site. Theory and ideas are one thing, experiencing the implementation at the customer’s premises is quite another. Ultimately, I always appreciated the conceptual work, but also the contact and work with customers. Here, too, I was always actively involved as an intern. I had personal encounters with quite a few customers and contact persons on site.
For me, the internship at managerberater was a very exciting time overall, with great companions in an environment in which I was also able to actively contribute (and implement!) my own ideas. If you are interested in an internship in the field of business psychology, I can only recommend trying out managerberater. For me, the six months were a great time frame in the gap year to experience many clients and projects.
If you want to work in an agile team and on an equal footing, you can look forward to flat hierarchies and an appreciative corporate culture. Personally, I definitely wouldn’t want to miss this time!
